Harm Henrick Kamerlingh Onnes / Kamerlingh Onnes /  (1893-1985)
Artist and ceramic artist. His work shows Asian, Egyptian and other cultural influences. Like the artist Karel Appel, the work of Kamerlingh Onnes possesses a childlike quality, that looks easy, but is not. In his work he has taken away the frills, leaving just a fine simplicity, which he uses to portray the essence of what, in his opinion, 'is'. He does this in a way that can only be done by great artists. He was one of the 'big names' in Dutch twentieth century ceramic art. Kamerlingh Onnes also had his own tile workshop.
